EARTH DAY 2013: The Changing Face of the Earth

April 22, 2013 0

Our Home, The Environment, has changed dramatically over the time; to a point where it has restructured the entire face of the Earth!

The ever-increasing carbon emission resulting in Global Warming, exploding rate of population in resource poor countries, over-dependence in non-renewable energy and contamination of water resources are few of the common traits of today’s society.

If we ever consider looking back, there will be many things we wish to change or regret on the wrongdoings. No matter what we do now, it is worth least for saving the Planet. However, if we try changing our ways, we can still sustain the life of Earth for another few 100 years or more. That’s worth a Shot!!

The existence of Earth dates back to 4.5 billion years,

and it just took us mere 50 years to destroy that legacy. The emulation of industrialization by the nations, economical/political competition among super powers, and the nature of turning blind-eye on the spreading negativity towards nature has resulted in an uncertain future for us and the future generation.

Global warming, large masses of holes in the Atmosphere, unrecoverable barren lands of Africa, global malnutrition and depleting numbers of wildlife, are few of the features of today’s Earth.

Each year brings a new hope for saving the planet, so did 2013! The efforts made by Earth Day Network towards making the Earth a better place to live are commendable. Today, Earth Day is celebrated in 192 Countries around the world.

—————–

Joyful joyful we adore our Earth in all its wonderment
Simple gifts of nature that all join into a paradise
Now we must resolve to protect her
Show her our love throughout all time
With our gentle hand and touch
We make our home a newborn world
Now we must resolve to protect her
Show her our love throughout all time
With our gentle hand and touch
We make our home a newborn world

~ Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy
