Rara Lake Trek is a trek to the “Queen of Lakes” in Nepal. It is the biggest lake in Nepal, situated in Rara National Park at an altitude of 2,990m. The clean, clear, and beautiful lake attracts numerous visitors every year who explore the beauty of the wildlife, flora, and fauna of the region.

With an area of 10.8 km square, the lake is surrounded by green hills, which makes it one of the best trekking destinations. You can also get a view of amazing snow-covered Himalayan peaks from the lake. The trek offers a unique window to explore and enjoy the wilderness of the beauty of Nepal. The area is home to thousands of beautiful birds and flowers, adding beauty to the serene surrounding. 

The hills surrounding the lake are blanketed by pine and juniper forests all around. The trek lies in the most enthralling national parks where you can observe the natural vegetation and beauty at its bests. The national park is also home to many endangered animals like the Himalayan Black Bear, Musk Deer, leopards, Ghoral, Thar, and Red Panda.

Welcome to the Himalayan country of Nepal. Our representative will be waiting for you at the Tribhuvan International Airport to welcome you and assists you to transfer into your hotel in Kathmandu. After taking some time to get refreshed, you'll meet again in the evening for a welcome dinner in one of the typical Nepalese restaurants in the heart of Kathmandu. We will have a short briefing about your trip and overnight at Hotel.

As per the flight schedule for Nepalgunj, we will transfer to the domestic airport for one and half hour scenic flight to Nepalgung. At Nepalgunj, we will have some spare time in the late afternoon or evening to have a look around the town which is situated on the southern Nepal border with India, and stay overnight in this transit city.

After the short scenic flight above the wilderness of western Nepal, we will land at the remote airstrips of Talcha. From Talcha, we will begin the trek along the tranquil trails of Rara National Park, emerging frequently in the culturally opulent villages, where trekkers get to see the lifestyle very close to the nomadic one. We will tread along the peaceful trails dominated by low alpine woodlands and small herbs having medicinal significance. After a couple of hours of walking or a bit more, we will arrive at Rara Lake. We will savor the magnificence of the amazing Rara and its surroundings. At the end of the day, you can accommodate yourselves in the teahouse at the lake shore.

We will have a big day. We shall be involved in boating in the deep and clear Rara Lake in the morning. Then with the packed lunch, we will set out for the hiking adventure over the hilltop right above the lake. A wonderful uphill walk along the pleasant forest trail will bring us to Chhuchemara Hilltop, which will cater to the magnificence of nature in all directions. The northern side has dramatically sprawling Himalayan peaks inside Nepal as well as Tibetan territory. In the rest of the direction, we will sight the beautiful views of lush woodlands surrounding deep valleys and the water sparkling in the crystal clear Rara Lake. This view of the beautiful lake will suggest why we call Rara, the Queen of Lakes. Enjoy the walk in an elevated landmark and savor the best of raw nature today during the walk to Chhuchemara Hilltop and from the acme of the hill. In the evening, after we are done with the day’s hiking, we will explore the lake and soak into the blissfully serene nature.

Enjoy the tremendous beauty of nature at Rara Lake as the sun shines here. You'll have the best view of the sun rising above the lake. After the view, we will then set off for the journey that retraces the trail back to Talcha. A couple of hours easy trek will bring you back to Talcha. Overnight in Talcha.

The rara lake trek is not counted as difficult trek. It lies in the elevation of 2290m which is not a very big height and also it don't have a difficult trail. The climb can be harder in winter due to the temperature.

Rara lake is located at the Mugu district. It is the biggest fresh water lake in the Nepalese Himalayas.

The Rara trek is 8 days long trek if you are only interested to climbing to the lake within a few time. Within this time, you will reach and return from Rara lake to the destination.
