Trip Introduction:
Dhulikhel Namo Buddha hike can be an enjoyable hike up to Namo Buddha, a beautiful place situated at an elevation of 1,750m/5,741 feet on the east side of Kathmandu Valley in the Kavre district. It is known as a very important Buddhist pilgrimage site, located about 38 kilometers from Kathmandu. The stupa and shrines built on this lovely little hill mark a very ancient holy site, which signifies the place where a legendary prince named Mahasattva offered himself to a starving tigress with several underfed cubs. This legendary episode is depicted in a very nice stone slab, which is right next to a holy Stupa.
Namo Buddha means âGreetings to the Lord Buddha". This place is also a great symbol of human sacrifice at its highest level. The Dhulikhel Namo Buddha is a day hike in Nepal that gives a great chance to explore the famous Buddhist places, away from the crown, and enjoy a wonderful hiking experience. Even if you will have only one day of adventure in Kathmandu, you can enjoy a day of the experience.
Around 7:30 am after breakfast, our experienced tour guide with a private vehicle will assist you at your hotel. He will take you on the drive to the hike start point. An early drive from Kathmandu for about one and a half hours takes us to the place called Dhapasi from where the hiking trail will heads northeast. The trail becomes narrower as you move further. You will cross over a suspension bridge and pass through many small villages with huge rice fields, which will give you a chance to see how the Nepalese People plant and harvest their crops.
The trail will go steeply uphill for about an hour until reaching Namo Buddha, which offers wonderful views of the downhill terrain and the skyline. We will have a great opportunity for sightseeing in the holy place and its surroundings. After our hot lunch at a local restaurant and sightseeing of the surrounding Newari villages, we will hike back to Dhulikhel to enjoy a spectacular view of high snow-capped mountains. After making some detours and taking some pictures in and around the area, you will drive back to Kathmandu.
